Jelen írás középpontjában a középiskolai tehetséggondozás egy sajátos szegmense, a versenyfelkészítés áll, annak is egy kisebb létszámú diákcsoportot érintő válogatóversenye, amely a Nemzetközi Földrajzi Olimpiára (továbbiakban iGeo) válogatja ki a négyfős magyar csapat tagjait. A hazai megmérettetésre (továbbiakban Hungeo) különböző módokon van lehetőség készülni, közülük az egyik lehetséges utat egy magániskolai tantárgy keretei között találhatjuk.
A cikk ehhez kapcsolódóan az alábbi kérdésre keresi a választ: hogyan lehetséges egy alapvetően egyénre szabott felkészítést tantárgyként beépíteni egy oktatási intézmény programjába? Továbbá milyen megfontolások mentén íródhat a tanmenet olyan tanórákra, amelynek résztvevői életkor, oktatási intézmény és nyelvtudás tekintetében egyaránt heterogén csoportot alkotnak? Milyen kihívásokkal és megoldási kísérletekkel találkozhatunk a folyamat során, amelyben a célrendszer kettős: egyrészt a földrajzi gondolkodás fejlesztése, másrészt egy jól körülhatárolható versenyre, annak feladataira való eredményes felkészítés?
Preparation for competition as a subject – experiences from a private school

ABSTRACT
The study focuses on a subject called Geolab held in a private school which aims to
prepare students for a national selection competition for the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo). The event is the largest annual geography competition in the world for secondary school students aged between 16 and 19 years. Therefore, the first part of the paper describes the background of the institute’s module system and the main characteristics of the national competition (Hungeo). After, the study demonstrates how the subject is placed in the school’s module system. Later, it presents in detail the key elements of preparation, particularly the structure, the types of tasks and the main challenges and possible solutions during the syllabus development. The paper does not just offer insights into the preparation itself. It also creates a framework for task practice to the written round. It is called a „cakefigure’ which presents the main elements of the section’s questions found in written tests (in both competitions: Hungeo, iGeo).
