Our researcher Zoltán Bakucs is currently participating in a mission in Lusaka, Zambia to implement the project ‘Promoting productive water use and efficient water management in paddy fields‘ in partnership with the Land and Water Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The project is funded by the Japanese Government.
The Land and Water Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is implementing Phase I of the project, which is funded by the Japanese government, in partnership with partners and national institutions in Sri Lanka and Zambia. The project is aimed to improve understanding of the existing state of water use efficiency and production in both countries, as well as identify national constraints and potential. The analysis serves as a foundation for providing technical and policy support to countries seeking to improve water resource management in paddy fields.
Imre Fertő, Zsófia Benedek, and Lajos Baráth from the Agricultural Economics and Rural Development Research Group of KTI are also participating in the project.
