Title: Drivers of Link Formation in Production Networks

BIO:

Oliver Racz is an assistant professor at Corvinus University Budapest and an external employee at the Central Bank of Hungary. His main research area is the empirical analysis of production (input-output) networks

Abstract:

The production network is built up of input-output links between firms. The formation and separation of individual links shape the network’s structure, which influences central aspects of an economy, such as economic growth, aggregate fluctuations, aggregate productivity, market power, and policy responses. This paper addresses what drives such linking dynamics by collecting descriptive facts from the firm-level production network of Hungary between 2015 and 2022. We compare firms that form (or severe) links to similar firms that are not involved in such linking dynamics.
